Essential Men’s Grooming Products You’ll Need to Look Your Absolute Best

When it comes to men’s grooming products, less is definitely more. You don’t need to go all out and buy dozens of products to look like a million dollars. With a few quality and essential products you will manage to look like the epitome of a groomed man every day. You can do away with other grooming products, but you don’t want to do without these essentials.

Wet shaving set

Nowadays, shaving has become a mindless morning routine and nothing like the tradition of our fathers and forefathers. Although it may be tempting to use a disposable razor and risk a razor burn with cheap shaving cream, there is nothing like classic wet shaving. Also, it doesn’t take many items to give it a go. All you need is a quality brush and shaving cream and a good razor.

But what makes a good razor for a wet shave? There is a bit of a debate over which is the best, but double-edged safety razors tend to be at the top of every poll. These types of razors are perfect for achieving a super smooth shave.

As for shaving cream, if you’re looking for a high-quality product, go with shaving creams that have a paste-like consistency and include glycerin or oils, which will lubricate and protect the skin at the same time. Last but not least, you will need a good brush to lather up the shaving cream, and you can’t go wrong with a badger shaving brush.

Cologne

Though Egyptians and Mesopotamians developed perfumes centuries ago, cologne is a relatively recent invention that was created in contrast to the heavy scents that were used during the 18th century. It’s meant to be used as an accent. Therefore, there is no need to bathe yourself in cologne; two or three sprays or dabs should be enough. This will give you an alluring scent that can only be sensed by those in close proximity and will help you smell fresh.

Since heat is what activates the scent, make sure to apply cologne on pulse points such as the base of the throat, wrists, the inside of your elbows, and behind your ears. Never apply cologne to clothing, as the scent will not last. Nonetheless, keep in mind that cologne is not meant to conceal poor hygiene.

Hair Product

A little goes a long way – this is especially true when it comes to a good hair product. If you want to add texture and definition to your hair, this is an item that you cannot go without. However, with such a big variety of hair products out there it may seem difficult to find the right one for you. It all depends on the hairstyle you are going for, your hair type, and how much you want to experiment with your look.

For example, if you want a high-shine look, a pomade is probably your best option. On the other hand, clay, putty, or fiber-based hair products are your best bet if you want a matte look. Luckily, there are also hybrid products that combine many of the previously mentioned ingredients to help you achieve any type of hairstyle.

Face Wash and Exfoliator

Sometimes, men tend to overlook skin care completely or simply wash their faces with body soap and call it a day. However, body soap tends to be too harsh and dries out the skin, speeding up the aging process. So be sure to use a quality face wash, which will remove oil and dirt from your skin, and an exfoliator to help scrub away dead skin cells and reveal the renewed skin beneath. There are plenty of hybrids on the market which can offer you both results in just one product.

If you want to cut a dash, be sure to keep these items in your bathroom. As you can see, there’s no need to get tons of products. Just a few good items will make all the difference when it comes to preserving your dapper look.
