Skin-Care Routines and Beard Grooming Products Generate a Healthy, Tidy, Chin Tuft
Beards are on the upswing again, especially in the last few years. Men of all ages and fashion bents have tried rocking with a bearded look at least once in their lifetime. The great thing about beards is that there are styles galore, and there surely is one to fit your taste, your visage, and grooming habits. Whether it’s stubble or full-on, midwinter-style facial foliage, it’s important to use the right beard grooming products to keep yours healthy and looking good.
Know your skin type
It’s necessary to take care of the skin under your beard. Learn what your skin type is: oily, dry or sensitive. Then, buy the right care products for your routine to help you keep it healthy.
Cleanse your skin
Ideally, you should wash your face with a specialized product twice a day: once after waking up, and once before going to bed. To make sure you expunge any excessive oil, dead skin cells and bacteria, thoroughly rinse your face with warm water before applying your face wash.
Be aware that a beard wash or shampoo is not the same as face wash, and because they were conceived for a different use, they can potentially dry out your facial skin. Once you have finished, rinse with cool water to close the pores.
Scrub it
Us a scrub or exfoliating wash between two to four times per week. This helps remove dead skin cells and deep cleans the skin to soften and loosen up the beard.
After using the face wash, apply the face scrub by rubbing it on the skin and beard. Concentrate on the nose, forehead, and neck, since these are the areas hosting the most dead skin cells and their buildup.
Scrubbing is a great way to tidy up your beard before shaving, so focus on the areas of your face you plan on shaving.
Keep your face moisturized
Once completing the aforementioned steps, it’s necessary to moisturize your face’s skin. This should be done twice a day to keep your skin hydrated. You should apply moisturizer on your entire face, but focusing on those areas that tend to become dryer.
Apply moisturizer commensurate to your skin type. Men with dry skin usually need to hydrate their skin twice a day or more, while men with oily skin will require fewer applications.
Styling your beard
If you have a 1-to-2-month beard growth, your chin, cheeks and neck may feel quite itchy. Meanwhile, your beard may begin to look shaggy and patchy. All you need is patience; this stage is temporary and will be over in no time. To help you endure this stage, you can apply plenty of moisturizer, such as beard oil. Try to avoid products containing alcohol, which will make your skin dryer and even itchier. You can also use a scruff softener, a product designed to soften the stubble.
Once the itchy stage is over, your beard will look messy. At this point, you need to start trimming it. However, if you want to ultimately achieve a natural look, you should do nothing to it.
Remember to carefully rinse the beard every day when taking a shower and apply beard oil daily. Beard wash can be used one to three times a week. Once your beard reaches the 3-4 month mark, you should only wash your beard once a week, but continue with daily rinsing. To moisturize it, apply beard oil and trim it with scissors to achieve the shape you want.
You can use a blow-dryer to make it look fuller and tidy after applying a beard balm to have an easier time styling it. Then, use a wooden comb and a beard brush to refine and coach its shape.
Following these routines and applications will help you whether you are aiming for a Vandyke, a five-o’clock shadow, or mountain man look–all while keeping your facial skin healthy.
